EXPLORING THE ROLE OF TONE IN DOCTOR-PATIENT COMMUNICATION
Abstract
Medical discourse represents a vital component of human interaction, encompassing linguistic, cognitive, and cultural dimensions. The ways in which health and illness are articulated across languages reveal not only clinical realities but also underlying cultural perceptions of treatment, healing, and patient engagement. This study delves into the intersection of language and medicine within Uzbek communication, with particular attention to metaphorical language, idiomatic expressions, and euphemisms used in medical contexts. It explores how linguistic choices influence doctor-patient relationships, highlighting the significance of linguopragmatic strategies in shaping medical dialogues and their socio-psychological implications. Additionally, the research underscores the critical role of tone, non-verbal cues, and cultural awareness in fostering effective and empathetic medical communication.
