THE CONCEPT OF LEXICAL COMPETENCE AND MODERN APPROACHES TO ITS FORMATION
Abstract
This article scientifically analyzes the linguistic and didactic essence of the concept of lexical competence, as well as modern pedagogical approaches used in its formation. Lexical competence means the ability of foreign language learners to systematically master vocabulary, to use it correctly, appropriately, and for communicative purposes in the speech process. The study identifies the structure, structural components, and stages of development of lexical competence, and reveals the significance of communicative, interactive, cognitive, and information-communication-based approaches in their formation. The author substantiates that the development of lexical competence in the modern educational process serves to improve the competence of personality-oriented learning, independent learning activity, and intercultural communication.
