THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR DEVELOPING LEXICAL COMPETENCE IN STUDENTS LEARNING FOREIGN LANGUAGES
Abstract
This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of developing lexical competence in foreign language students from a scientific and pedagogical perspective. Lexical competence is characterized by students' active acquisition of foreign language vocabulary and their ability to use it correctly, appropriately, and meaningfully in speech. The study examines mechanisms for enhancing lexical competence based on linguistic, psycholinguistic, and didactic approaches, as well as the impact of modern pedagogical technologies and innovative methods. The author substantiates the effectiveness of using a communicative approach, interactive methods, and information-communication technologies in foreign language teaching. Additionally, the article develops theoretical and practical recommendations that contribute to the development of students' independent thinking, communication culture, and linguistic cognition.
