Abstract

In the modern era of machining, cutting tools are essential for high-precision manufacturing processes. To improve tool longevity, wear resistance, and performance, coating technologies have been employed. Electrical Spark Plasma Assisted Technology (ESPAT) is a novel approach that has demonstrated significant promise in enhancing the properties of cutting tools. This paper investigates the application of ESPAT for coating cutting tools using tungsten carbide-cobalt (WC-Co) alloys and their various compositions. The advantages, challenges, and potential applications of these coatings are discussed in the context of industrial machining.
